Nail FAQs

What footwear should I wear for my pedicure?

For best results, we encourage bringing simple sandals that are easy to slip on and off, and do not touch the nail plate of your toes (Birks are notorious for smudging the big toes with their circular flap!). We find that open-toed flip flops work best. Disposable flip-flops are available for a small fee.

For gel polish pedicures, anything goes!

How long does regular polish take to dry?

Regular polish takes 2+ hours to thoroughly dry. It will be dry to the touch fairly quickly however for the first few hours after your service, it will be sensitive to any impact or pressure. We recommend avoiding socks or closed-toe shoes for several hours after your service. Please note that due to the long dry time of regular polish we cannot be responsible for smudges to regular polish that occurs outside of the salon. Regular polish is sensitive to bumps, pressure, etc. until fully dry and requires extra care and attention. Repairs are available for a small fee.

Won't your dryers speed up the regular polish dry time?

We do offer dryers in the salon that will dry your top coat to the touch. Regular polish is much like wet paint — it needs a bit of time and patience to fully set.

Is gel polish the same as shellac?

Gel polish and shellac are essentially the same thing. Shellac is a brand name of a line of gel polish, kind of like Kleenex is a brand name of facial tissue, whereas gel polish describes all brands. We use a premium, long-lasting line of gel polish in our manicure and pedicure services that are 10-free, vegan, and cruelty-free.

What's the difference between gel polish and builder gel?

Gel polish and builder gel are long-lasting polishes cured under UV/LED lights. Builder gel is a strengthening layer applied underneath gel polish that offers added benefits of a longer-wearing, stronger manicure. It can be applied on your natural length, or used to sculpt length enhancements. Gel polish typically wears well for up to 10-14 days*, and builder gel wears well for up to 14-21 days*. Gel polish it is typically removed each visit before a new application, whereas builder gel is infilled to rebalance the structure of the nail.

*varies depending on lifestyle, nail strength, and aftercare

How do I know if builder gel is right for me?

Builder gel is wonderful for many different lifestyles and #nailgoals. We can utilize it to transform the length of your nails in a single appointment with our length enhancement service, or apply it to your natural length for added strength. Builder gel is a long-wearing, forgiving manicure that will have you feeling fresh for several weeks.

What kind of polishes do you use?

Revelry’s standard is that all polishes must be 5-free or better. This means that at a minimum, our polishes are free from: Formaldehyde, Toluene, BHA, DBP, and Camphor. In addition to the high-quality formulation, they are incredibly pigmented and long-lasting. We never dilute or thin out any polish that is past its prime.

Why don't you use jets in your pedicure bowls?

Typical jet-style pedicure soaking can be a risky practice. It is impossible to know for sure how clean they are getting after services, as you can’t fully see inside all of the parts, and they cannot be completely taken apart. For this reason, we use jetless pedicure bowls to ensure a clean and safe experience for our clients.

Waxing FAQs

What type of wax do you use?

We utilize European film wax — a hybrid between hard and soft wax that doesn't require the use of strips. When compared to hot traditional wax, this new generation of wax is more elastic, flexible, has a lower melting temperature, and adheres better to hair. Film Wax sticks only to the hair and not to the skin, reducing pain and skin irritation during the service.

What areas can you wax?

Check out our waxing service menu!

What do I need to know prior to a wax?

For best results, ensure your hair is long enough for the wax to grip. We recommend a minimum of two weeks of growth for facial waxing.

Please arrive for your appointment with freshly cleansed skin, free of any makeup or heavy lotion.

Broken skin or skin inflammation should not be waxed until healed.

If you have sensitive skin or are using skin medications/treatments (either over-the-counter or prescription), please check in with your health provider and/or dermatologist prior to booking a wax. These products can highten skin sensitivity, causing irritation that can sometimes be severe.

What does waxing aftercare entail?

Excessive heat can cause irritation during the first 48 hours after your wax. We recommend avoiding steam, saunas, hot tubs, sunbathing, etc. during this period. We also recommend avoiding shaving or tweezing in between your waxing appointments.
